It does not get more real than this. For you who master the art of handling this weapon, the closest and best shave possible awaits you.
The straight razor is one of the oldest tools in the world. The blade is smithed and hardened with special care. Unlike pocket and household knives, the edge of a straight razor is slight concave. The more concave the edge is, the sharper and more expensive the straight razor. The quality of the steel that is used in the straight razor has been continually developed and improved and different widths are still produced.
The width of a straight razor is measured in inches. (1 inch = 2.54 cm). 3/4 inch is the narrowest blade and 7/8 inch the widest. The most popular widths in Europe are 4/8 inch and 5/8 inch, but 3/4 inch and 7/8 inch are still popular in some countries.
Please note: Great care and much training is required to master this art. Find an experienced barber who can show you and give lessons.
This straight razor is manufactured by Edwin Jagger with 5/8 inch carbon steel blade and genuine ivory handle. After every shave, the straight razor should be sharpened with a razor strop.
