The smoke from these sticks gives off a soft and pleasant, slightly sweet scent.
Here's what to do: Light the stick on fire until it starts to glow. Gently blow on the embers, or let it burn until the fire goes out on its own. Let the smoke spread around the room until the embers go out. The embers go out pretty quickly, but the moment the sticks are glowing is usually enough.
Trivia: According to South American folklore, the Palo Santo (Bursera Graveolens) is a sacred tree and the spirits that inhabit its oil are very powerful. Palo Santo is traditionally used as incense by the indigenous people of the Andes. Only after 4-10 years does the tree give off its special scent. Only naturally fallen trees and branches are used to make Palo Santo products. No felling of trees takes place.
