Ingrown Hairs

Ingrown hairs is the same thing as shaving pimples (sometimes called razor bumps). Most men who have shaved have experienced when a hair start to grow inwards into the skin (extra common for those with curly hair). This phenomenon normally arises because of dead skin cells that block the path of the hairs though the outer layers of skin. The hair follicle becomes inflamed and it results in painful swellings on the skin.

Luckily enough you can prevent ingrown hairs.

Directly after the shave you should use an after shave balm with a light acid (that eliminates the membrane of dead skin cells that clog the pores).
A peeling/scrub should be used the day after waxing or shaving to remove dead skin cells and at the same time stimulate and soften the skin. The softer the skin, the easier it is for the hairs to find its way through the outer skin layers.
By shaving with a safety razor you can avoid shaving pimples completly. A safety razor shaves extremly close to the skin and thus take away the layer of dead skin cells, which makes it easier for the hairs to penetrate the skin.
Ingrown hairs caused by shaving can be prevented by using good quality products that soften the skin and hair and at the same time have an anti-inflammatory effect.
