WHAT IS A TOOTHBRUSH?

A toothbrush is an instrument consisting of a small brush on a handle that is used to clean teeth and gums by brushing away food debris, plaque and bacteria.

The first toothbrushes can be traced back to ancient civilisations such as the Babylonians and Egyptians. Early brushes were often made of twigs and branches. The modern toothbrush as we know it today began to take shape in the 19th century.

TYPES OF TOOTHBRUSHES:

Manual toothbrush: The most common type, requiring physical movement from the user to brush the teeth.
Electric toothbrush: Powered by batteries or charge and rotates or vibrates to effectively clean the teeth.
Interdental brush: A small brush designed to clean between teeth where regular toothbrushes cannot reach.
