Should you spray on your wrist? Rub the scent in? Why do some people apply fragrance to clothes? Here’s how to apply fragrance the right way.

Summary

  • Applying fragrance correctly extends its longevity and ensures a balanced presence without overwhelming those around you.

  • The key is to spray on pulse points and areas with higher blood flow, and to avoid rubbing the fragrance—rubbing can alter the scent’s structure.

  • Dosage and placement should be adapted to the occasion, season, and personal preference to create an impression that feels both personal and considerate.

Don’t shake

First of all, remember never to shake your fragrance. We understand the natural instinct to do it, but try to handle it gently. Shaking can create air bubbles, which may affect the fragrance’s integrity.

AVOID RUBBING

If you tend to apply fragrance on your wrists and then rub them together, we want to tell you that this is something you should avoid. The scent won’t last as long if you rub after spraying, because friction can break down the composition.

Apply to pulse points

Apply your fragrance where the skin is warmest—such as behind the ears, on the neck, and on the wrists. The heat from pulse points amplifies the scent, helping your fragrance reach its full potential.

You should not apply fragrance to clothing. If you use a highly concentrated fragrance, such as a Parfum, it can cause stains. In addition, the scent can smell very different on fabric.

Your natural skin scent and your skin’s pH play a decisive role in how long a fragrance lasts. Genuine raw materials and pure oils—often found in so-called niche fragrances—also interact with your skin differently than synthetic ingredients do. This means some people pick up certain notes better than others, which is exactly why such fragrances smell unique on every person.

Tip! If your skin is extremely dry, the scent won’t cling as well. In that case, use a body lotion to “moisturize” the skin. Of course, even if you don’t have dry skin, you can do this to help your fragrance last longer.

How much?

How much fragrance you should use mainly depends on two things:
1. Whether you’re using an EdT, EdC or Parfum (i.e., the concentration of fragrance oils). Read more here.
2. Taste and preference

We recommend experimenting and gradually increasing the amount.
