STORAGE- DARK AND COOL

A perfume that is stored properly can last for years and even become more developed in character after it has been used for a while, but it can also be destroyed in a few weeks if stored incorrectly. The most important thing is not to expose it to direct sunlight or strongly fluctuating temperatures and humidity. Many people keep it in the bathroom because it's the most logical choice, but it's actually best kept in a closed cupboard, drawer or wardrobe in a bedroom, for example. In the bathroom, both temperature and humidity change significantly several times a day, although it's obviously better to keep it in a dark bathroom cupboard than out on the shelf or near a window where the light floods in. But if you can - skip the bathroom.

PERFUME ACCORDING TO OCCASION

One of the basic "rules" when choosing a perfume is to think about the context in which you will use it. Is it for everyday use or a party? A party perfume can be a little more complex and expressive to get the attention of the people around you and to make yourself stand out. Therefore, to spray it on you in every possible situation for everyday use is to throw away the experience. Plus, you risk getting tired of it, and that's a bit of a shame if you've shelled out a few grand for a luxury fragrance. Right?

Instead, use a simpler and less expensive perfume for everyday wear (or several) and only wear the exclusive one for special occasions - then it's also worth spending a few extra bucks on the party scent and it lasts a long time.

PERFUME BY SEASON

Some perfumes are suitable for different seasons. Going with a heavy smoky leather scent on a hot summer day may not be ultimate for the fragrance experience, nor does it do your perfume justice. The ideal is to have some perfume for spring and summer, which might be a little lighter and fresher and cool off, while going for darker and heavier scents in the winter months. Build up a fragrance wardrobe so that you might create a base with one everyday and one festive perfume for each season such as spring-summer-autumn-winter. Then it's just a matter of playing around.

ALWAYS TEST ON THE SKIN

Don't just go by a fragrance stick when buying a perfume - test it on your skin and see how it develops, so you don't get any unpleasant surprises. The scent stick is mostly there to give you a first impulse if you're on the right or wrong path, and if it might be something to try further. The perfume should work with your skin and can give a fundamentally different result on different people. For example, just because it works on your friend doesn't mean it will work on you.
