Sun Protection
- Men’s Grooming Guide
Did you know that scorching sunshine and rising mercury can wreak havoc on your skin causing irritation, dryness, wrinkles, and – when you are not safeguarded – burning! It is important to know that compared to women, men’s skin takes time to age; yet men are more prone to the deadly skin cancers.
“Men’s skin needs the same care as women’s.
Listed below are some skincare tips that not only protect you from the hazardous UV rays but are easy to follow too:
- Exfoliate: Sun protection notwithstanding, exfoliating your skin regularly is a must! A combination of exfoliation and cleansing, in fact, can prevent unwanted buildup of dead cells and also reduce sweat production. It is sweat and oil combined with the damaging rays of sun that leads to ingrown hair, blackheads, and an unsightly complexion.
Choose an exfoliator that prevents the unwanted effects of the sun on skin, thereby resulting in a healthier and nourished skin. - Moisturise: When it comes to selecting a moisturiser, most men follow the ‘grab–the-cheapest’ attitude. It is important to understand that sunlight robs your skin of the necessary moisture present in it and leaves it dry, damaged, and wrinkly. Therefore, compromising on the quality of your moisturiser is never recommended.
Intensive moisturisation holds the key to complete sun protection. While choosing a moisturiser, keep an eye on the ingredients – components such as aloe vera, vitamin C, and salicylic acid provide a brighter complexion and also restore the necessary moisture required by the skin. - Use Sun Protection: Despite the increased risk of developing melanoma, many men are still not willing to apply sunscreen. If you are keen to reduce the fine lines and fend off skin cancer, making room for a sunscreen is MUST! Apart from safeguarding the skin against the damaging rays of the sun, an effective sunscreen also prevents dehydration. Wearing a sunscreen regularly stops your skin from sagging and ensures that it looks fresh, firm and rejuvenated.
In addition to following the above-stated tips for sun protection, you also need to ensure that your body remains hydrated. For best results, drink plenty of water and maintain a healthy diet. Following an intensive skincare regimen will minimise the chances of sun damage.
While you may take a little time to adopt all the skincare tips discussed above, there’s one thing that you simply can’t miss – sunscreen, honestly!
