Taking care of your wardrobe

Things to keep in mind

The word wardrobe originates from the french word garderob, with garde meaning to watch over or protect (guard) and that is precisely what we want the wardrobe to do, is it not? With that said, there is a whole lot we can do to both increase the life of our clothes as well as the comfort in our home.

A good wardrobe keeps the clothes in good condition, while at the same time being foreseeable and not too cramped. A walk-in-closet is most likely a lot of peoples wet dream, but unfortunately not very realistic for most. The bigger the wardrobe, the more opportunities you’ve got. Although a closet of the minor sort can be made practical and functional as well.

CLEAR SECTIONS

Divide your wardrobe into different sections to get a more organized closet and make the procedure of choosing what clothes to wear in the morning much more efficient. Make sure not to hang your clothes to close to each other so that the garments have enough air between them so that they may breathe. Therefore you should only keep a seasons worth of clothes in the wardrobe at a time to give the clothes the space they need. After all it’s rare for anyone to need a winter coat in july. Feel free to hang some cedar blocks or scented bags between the garments or stuffed in the drawers for a your clothes well-being. Also it will provide a lovely fragrance while picking an outfit.

HANG IT THE RIGHT WAY

Make sure to pick the right hangers for the type of clothes that you wish to hang. A suit should never, under any circumstances, be hung on a hanger made for shirts. Benjamin Barbers Cedarwood Hangers does more than just provide an appropriate place to hang your things, it also repels carpet beetles, moths and silverfish since they despise the scent of cedar.

CARE FOR YOUR CLOTHES

A big part of your wardrobe experience is affected by how your clothes feel. If they’re well-worn, foul smelling and full of stubborn stains, no walk-in-closet in the world will save the experience. Use mild yet effective detergents and stain removal, also try a fabric freshener spray in between washes. If you dislike ironing your clothes you should have a Crease Release, a spray that prevents you from reaching from the iron. With a clothes brush you can quickly and easily remove lint, hair and dust from your garments and with a shoe block made out of cedar wood your shoes will stay fresh for longer.
