Walnut

In perfumery, walnut is often described as a dry, earthy and woody note with a distinct, slightly bitter undertone. Unlike sweet and creamy nutty notes (such as almond or hazelnut), walnut lends a darker, more subdued and sophisticated character to a perfume.

As it is not possible to extract natural fragrance oil from walnuts, it is what is known as a ‘fictitious note’. Perfumers construct the scent at a molecular level.
