Allspice
Allspice or Pimenta derived from the Caribbean and is sometimes called Jamaica pepper. The Allspice was discovered by Columbus during his second voyage to the "new world". The Allspice is used primarily for cooking and in the U.S. is common in desserts and in the Middle East has allspice become almost indispensable spice.
The dried pepper berries are distilled in order to be able to extract oils that provides hot, peppery spices reminiscent of pepper, cinnamon and cloves.
