Armenian Paper

Armenian paper (Papier d’Arménie) is used as a fragrance note to evoke a sense of history, incense, dryness, and subtle sweetness. It is often associated with nostalgia and a “dry”, “library-like”, or meditative atmosphere. The scent profile is warm, sweet, balsamic, smoky, powdery, and lightly oriental. The overall impression is calming, warm, and old-fashioned – reminiscent of aged paper resting near incense.

Armenian paper is the most distinctive paper accord and is strongly associated with burnt benzoin resin. It may also contain subtle hints of smoky sweetness from vanilla and resin, although it should not be considered a truly sweet fragrance note.
