Black Musk

Black musk is also known as deer musk or musk al-ghazal. It is an intense, deep, and often oriental fragrance note used in perfumery, recognised for its earthy, leathery, and sensual character. Unlike white musk (which is cleaner), black musk is darker and more powerful, and is often paired with amber, patchouli, and spices.

Unlike white musk, which originally derives from musk deer glands, black musk may consist of both natural and synthetic ingredients. Today, however, it is most commonly produced synthetically.
