Brown sugar
Brown sugar, also known as farin sugar, is a mixture of sugar and cane syrup, which gives it its moist texture and caramel-like flavour.
Demerara sugar from Guyana in South America belongs to the same category and is a golden brown, unrefined cane sugar with large crystals that has a caramel-like flavour and crunchy texture. It is often used in baking, especially for crumble pies and crème brûlée, and is also popular as a sweetener in drinks such as coffee and tea.
