Did you know that many perfumes can be matched with a suitable drink? Here are three exciting scents and their drink recipes.

Please note that the measurements are not specified, so it is important to experiment and try out until you reach a better balance between the different ingredients, as we at Gents usually do at our appreciated Perfume Tastings, so that you get as close as possible to the structure of the scent. Maybe a fun treat at the party?

widian – rose arabia white

From Abu Dhabi brand Widian's fresh, floral Rose Arabia range comes the sweetly fruity but fresh and floral White, which has quickly become a firm favourite with both sexes.

As always when creating floral fragrances in this region, the result is often summery, fresh and youthful instead of "old-fashioned floral"; the oriental element is there, lurking in the background and creating unexpected associations, here in the form of a fruitiness and creamy sweetness from tonka bean and vanilla on the one hand, and peach, plum and tropical ylang ylang on the other. Add to this floral notes in the form of freesia, violet flower and sensual white musk.

Drink recipe Widian White:
Blommiga noter är alltid svåra att duplicera i en drink så här vi tar fasta på fruktigheten, sötman och den somriga känslan.

  • coriander
  • infused plums
  • green Chartreuse
  • creme de violette
  • gin
  • lemon

alüstre – spectre 575 - 149

This elegant perfume from Copenhagen-based brand Alüstre - otherwise best known for its cosmetics containing powdered real diamonds - is primarily based on the citrus note bergamot, but what sets it apart from other summer-fresh scents in the citrus category is the warm, spicy-sweet base consisting of cinnamon, ambergris, white musk and cardamom, among others. This builds up the citrus with a deep, creamy base that is almost reminiscent of sweet leather with hints of bourbon.

It's all about getting a fresh, fruity citrus on top of a dark, slightly boozy foundation, which is why whisky as an ingredient can be an interesting experiment. If it's not sweet enough, try adding a little cinnamon and see what happens, possibly try replacing the smoky whisky with a sweet rum (or add it as a complement).

Drink recipe Alüstre Spectre 575 - 149:

  • Italicus
  • Limoncello
  • lemon
  • grapefruit
  • fennel
  • Laphroaig

nasomatto – baraonda

This controversial sweet, boozy perfume from Italy's Nasomatto is actually a no-brainer as a drink, as it reflects Allessandro "The Nose" Gualtieri's interpretation of a hearty "day-after" drunk, but with a particularly well-balanced and unusually easy-to-carry result. It has also quickly become Nasomatto's bestseller, especially in these times when sweet scents continue to gain appreciation and ground. Gualtieri resolutely refuses to reveal his notes (apart from the fact that he uses oud) so we're in for a real challenge here - the main impressions could possibly be described as flat bourbon/whiskey, rum, amber and vanilla - but here, as I said, it's free for your own creativity.

NOTE! If the drink is not sweet enough, add vanilla extract or, for example, Monin vanilla and increase the proportion of rum or Bulleit rye or reduce the elements of Carpano Classico and bitters.

Drink recipe Nasomatto Baraonda:

  • Bulleit rye (rye whiskey in charred oak barrels with hints of vanilla fudge)
  • Diplomatico (sweet rum with hints of vanilla, cinnamon and fudge)
  • Carpano Classico
  • bitters
