autumn fragrances

Best in test

Just like with clothing, we choose different fragrances depending on season and occasion – certain scent profiles simply suit specific times of the year better. Autumn fragrances tend to be deeper and warmer, ranging from green nuances to spicy and smoky compositions. Here is our top list.

New Notes Magico Safrano Extrait de Parfum

We open strong by crowning what may be one of the world’s finest saffron fragrances as our winner. The Italian niche house New Notes has created a true masterpiece with Magico Safrano, where the precious saffron takes centre stage in all its elegance – never sharp or piercing, but instead soft, warm and refined.

Despite incorporating smoky tobacco, pink pepper, noble woods and leather, the composition is wrapped in creamy amber, cinnamon and musk, creating a luxurious, enveloping effect on the skin. A perfect fragrance for those who appreciate warm, rounded spices combined with tobacco and wood – equally suited for dressed-up occasions or simply to add a touch of everyday luxury. A true unisex scent that wears like a comforting, elegant layer. Congratulations, New Notes!

#2
QOT Kingmaker

We dare to place Kingmaker – a dark, coffee-based gourmand from QOT – in second place. The reason is simple: this is a deep, warming composition that delivers instant comfort on a cold, grey autumn day. Yet it never becomes overly experimental in the “edible” gourmand direction – there is a clear sense of elegance within its darker tones.

Finding a great coffee fragrance is no easy task – they often lean too milky and sweet, or too bitter and heavy. With Kingmaker, QOT strikes a remarkable balance: dark roasted coffee with a subtle liquorice-like bitterness, softened by a “cookie” accord and a touch of chocolate. In other words: black coffee and pastry, bottled. Notes of butter, sugar and hazelnut are cleverly woven in without overwhelming sweetness – instead, they smooth out the bitterness. Creativity like this deserves a place on the podium.

#3
LENGLING Sekushi No 7 Supreme Extrait de Parfum

The German brand LENGLING is a true rising star that deserves a wider audience, and their Sekushi No 7 Supreme Extrait de Parfum from the more exclusive high-end collection is likely their crown jewel.

Germany has been making strong moves within the niche fragrance world, offering modern interpretations of classic designer aesthetics – and doing it exceptionally well. In Sekushi Supreme, we encounter a creamy, deep and highly sophisticated composition. With sweet-fruity notes of orange, raspberry and cotton candy, it acts as a vibrant counterpoint to autumn’s grey mood – layered with darker accords of leather, patchouli and sensual musk.

The elegance and “well-dressed” character are unmistakable, yet there is also a luxurious gourmand aspect that brings warmth to autumn evenings – while still working beautifully for summer nights.

#4
Plume Impression Elégance Cuirée EDP Nat. Spray Deluxe

The refined French house Plume Impression has gained significant attention among niche enthusiasts with its fresh and complex unisex creations, but here we highlight the darker, more aromatic Elegance Cuir. With dry green juniper, leather and woody accords, it becomes a perfect companion for autumn – or an outstanding evening fragrance.

It may lean slightly masculine in expression, but the result on skin can always surprise. In any case, this is a small masterpiece that stands apart from the brand’s usual brighter identity and fits the season perfectly.

#5
J-Scent Profound Ume Amaretto Oath EdP

In fifth place, we find the Japanese house J-Scent with Ume Amaretto from the exclusive Profound series. This is no ordinary gourmand – here, liquor and bitter almond take centre stage with bold intensity. If this composition doesn’t wake you from your autumn slumber, something is truly off.

Its distinctive Amaretto interpretation may divide opinions, but on the right person and in the right setting, it becomes a creative standout. A warm, festive and highly elegant fragrance – like enjoying a drink beneath chandeliers while autumn rain falls outside.
