salt water spray

Best in test

Saltwater spray is a hairstyling product that has grown in popularity in recent years as it provides both structure and volume as well as a flexible, matte beach look. Salt water spray is particularly suitable for those who want to style their hair and maintain their tresses without realising that they have a product in their hair. So which salt water spray should you choose?
Here is a small test.

#1
sailor's saltvattenspray

Justification: Sailor’s saltwater spray is relatively new to the market but has quickly become a favorite. It doesn’t have quite the same strength in terms of hold as, for example, Maria Nila’s Ocean Spray, and may feel a bit wet at first, but it definitely wins with its beach-inspired effect and natural result when styling hair in combination with blow-drying. When used with a hairdryer, it is unbeatable. It provides the texture, elasticity, and matte finish that one expects from a saltwater spray and keeps the style in place all day.

#2
maria nila ocean spray

Justification: Ocean Spray from Swedish brand Maria Nila is a rather unique product in this category, as it has the absolute strongest hold on the market and is perfect for those who want to achieve a natural look while still getting solid structure and hold without having to use wax.

The beach look is there, along with the matte finish and elastic feel, but this one is for those who want extreme hold without it being visible. If used as a final touch on dry hair, it works almost like a hairspray but without the stickiness. Otherwise, it has all the qualities one would expect from a saltwater spray.

If you’re looking for a variant with a lighter structure, try Salty Mist from the same brand, which also contains repairing algae and Colour Guard Complex that protects hair from UV radiation and free radicals. Like most saltwater sprays, it works just as well for long or short hair. Additionally, it is enriched with ingredients that care for both hair and scalp.

#3

American Crew Classic Alternator

Justification: Alternator from American Crew is something of a classic in the hairstyling industry and is probably the saltwater spray that provides the most distinct beach-look effect, as if you’ve just been swimming and dipped your head in saltwater. The hold is flexible, allowing you to restyle your hair multiple times throughout the day even if you’ve only sprayed once.

#4

Mr Bear Grooming Spray - Sea Salt

Justification: Mr Bear Sea Salt Spray is a saltwater-based styling spray worth trying for those with an extra sensitive scalp. In addition to providing extra hold, structure, and protection to the hair, its strength lies in its natural ingredients, focusing on beneficial substances. It includes ingredients such as nettle, aloe vera, witch hazel, and horsetail, which soothe irritated scalps, combat dandruff and oily hair, stimulate hair growth, and strengthen the hair. Vitamins A, C, E, B-12, and folic acid contribute to cell renewal and promote healthy cell growth. It is also completely free from sulfates, parabens, betaine, and silicones.

#5

lernberger stafsing saltwater spray

Justification: A grooming spray that gives hair natural volume and structure with a matte finish. The expert brand Lensberger Stafsing has always stood for superb quality, and of course, their saltwater spray is enriched with minerals and broccoli seed oil, as well as containing UV and heat protection. Otherwise, there is nothing that particularly makes it stand out or unique in its properties – it simply does what it’s supposed to do. Spray into slightly damp or dry hair and blow-dry or let it air dry before styling into the desired look.
