THE TOILET BAG

The basis for smart packing is a proper toiletry bag that suits you and your needs. If you're looking for something practical at a good price, choose the Sailor's toiletry bag in waxed blue canvas with light-coloured leather details that is durable and water-repellent. Are you annoyed by leaking bottles and spills? Then you should try Gent's toiletry bag in black nylon, which is machine washable in case of an accident.

If you want to travel in style, why not treat yourself to a really stylish toiletry bag in the highest quality and genuine brown or black leather from Benjamin Barber. This toiletry bag is spacious and also has a zipped inner compartment. English company Truefitt & Hill also has lots of luxurious leather toiletry bags - a fun variant is the so-called "travel roll up", inspired by the toiletry bag used by British army officers during both world wars. The toiletry bag takes up very little space when rolled up and has lots of spacious compartments with press studs and adjustable leather straps to keep your razor, razor and shaving brush in place.

for shaving

If you're used to using a classic safety razor, Merkur's detachable travel razor in a black leather case is smart and compact to take with you without compromising on shaving quality. Just keep in mind that you're usually not allowed to take the double-blade safety razor in your hand luggage if you're flying! If you are a Gillette user, we can recommend the Sailor's small multi-blade razor for Mach3 with a short stable handle in chrome. This plane is packaged in a stylish brown leather case. Or why not a solution from Truefitt & Hill that you don't have to carry home again. With their disposable planes, you can leave the plane in the hotel bathroom without having to ask the taxi to turn around.

The most cumbersome part of shaving is all the accessories, but even here there are plenty to choose from. For those who use hard shaving soap, Edwin Jagger's soaps in a travel pack with a lid are a popular alternative to shaving cream. With the soap, you can use a portable travelling shaving brush, which is available in different brands and can be sealed with a lid.

Italian brand Proraso's creamy shaving foam has become a hit with its travel-sized spray cans. If you're used to using shaving cream and a brush, Proraso has a great Shave Travel Kit with everything you need in small mini packs. One tip is to combine the aforementioned Sailors razor for Gillette blades in a package with the Proraso kit at a favourable price.

face and body

Even when travelling, you need to take care of yourself and shouldn't have to give up your daily routine. Dermalogica has several handy little packages of its skincare products. If you want a complete solution, their so-called Skin Kit is available in different variants depending on your skin type, containing everything you need for different steps in your skincare routine.

For showering, we recommend Benjamin Barber's fragrant shower gel in the popular Black Oak, which comes in a handy travel pack and also has a body lotion equivalent. Or why not try English brand Molton Brown's Travel Luxuries Set, which includes body wash, shampoo, face wash and moisturiser - all in a transparent toiletry bag approved for hand luggage on the plane.

For teeth, Italian brand Marvis has created small, handy toothpaste tubes that are easy to slip into your toiletry bag or suitcase. These iconic toothpastes are available in a range of pleasant and fresh flavours. Molton Brown and the French brand L'Occitane also have small tubes of hand cream in various pleasant scents that can be good and fresh to take with you when travelling.

for the beard

The beard should also be taken care of while travelling. The advantage here is that beard oils often come in small bottles that don't take up much space. For brushing your beard, a smaller model, such as the Sailor's small beard and moustache brush or Benjamin Barber's wenge wood travel brush, may be enough. Or how about the Sailor's mini brush and comb set? Both are so small that they easily fit in your back pocket or among your other hand luggage. A fun thing is Proraso's Beard Tissues, disposable washcloths for quick cleaning and refreshing of the beard. You can also carry these in the inner pocket of your jacket or in your jacket.

Finally, a tip is to organise the contents of your toiletry bag by function so that you can easily find what you need, or at least keep anything that can get wet in some form of plastic in your toiletry bag.

Then there's that favourite perfume, which you can hardly ever take on a trip because the bottle seems too big or you're afraid something will happen to it. With Benjamin Barber's travel bottle, you can fill it with any perfume you want. Simply remove the top of the bottle, thread on the flacon and pump. A lot of perfumes are also available in samples, which is easy to take with you.
