How to TAKE CARE OF YOUR SAFETY RAZOR

A good quality razor can last a lifetime if you take good care of it. Here are four tricks to keep your safety razor in top condition.

1
Clean your planer every day or after use. Rinse it off and try to remove as much dirt as possible. It's especially important to get the lather and old beard off the plane, otherwise it will form a thick layer between the parts and make the plane difficult to use. To really get at it, you can disassemble all the parts of the planer and rinse them under the tap.
2
At least once every six months, you should disassemble and clean your planer with some kind of fat solvent to remove dead skin cells that have accumulated on the planer. A good dish soap works well for this in combination with an old toothbrush.
3
Disinfect the razor when necessary, especially if you have found an old treasure on Tradera. Don't forget to remove the blade first, as disinfecting will dull the blade.
4
Change razor blades regularly before they become too worn. That way you'll put less wear and tear on your razor too. Remember never to rinse the blade in too hot water, as higher temperatures affect the hardening and thus the sharpness and life of the blade.
