MEET THE BARBER

In adolescence, an interest in shaving was born, especially because a comfortable shave was often difficult to achieve. Over time, the results got better and with that came a greater interest and hunger for perfection. Along came the scissors and during his years as a barber, his knowledge and skill have become invaluable, meet our barber Simon Klaren.

I am a former Hallänning but now a Malmöit who has been a barber at Gents since 2015. My area of expertise is mainly in hair, beard & shaving. Shaving is especially close to my heart as this was something I created interest in my teens. I always had problems getting a comfortable shave & a good result, which became the goal to strive for. The hours with the razor have become many and the craft behind a passion that is still growing today.

When I'm not behind the barber's chair, I appreciate literature and listening to death metal, avant-garde jazz and piano. Besides this, painting, especially Warhammer, is a hobby that I think is similar to my profession in that both require attention to detail and skill.

Top tip: Knowledge and skill develop over time. Mastering the art of a perfect shave, especially with a razor or blade, is a journey and not a destination. Just like learning to compose the perfect lather or finding the perfect perfume, it takes patience, dedication and constant practice. So instead of rushing through the process, take a step back, enjoy the journey.
