Thiers-Issard Sabatier Diamond Paste
Thiers-Issard's diamond paste is an excellent option whether your razor is at the duller side and need coarser grit or if you just want a good abrasive paste for maintenance of the razor.
Under several years it has been developed harder and more durable steel for straight razors, and with this development needed an abrasive substance that can measure up. Diamond is the hardest substance known to man, much harder than any steel that has yet been developed. This makes diamonds a great choice of abrasive paste.
All Thiers-Issard's "Bio-Diamond" pastes are water-based, which is perfect for straight razors because they do not contain any harmful chemicals and rinsed light of the knife to minimize skin irritation / infection.
Thiers-Issards diamond pastes recommended for either soft balsa wood or leather preferably, the surface must be sufficiently rough / coarse to keep the water-based paste.
Coarse grit; 6 micron (yellow): The rudest of diamond pastes from Thiers-Issard is an aggressive action to restore a dull razor. It does not replace grinding when aging, rust or nicks in the blade, but is recommended to be used after grinding has done the heavy work.
Regular Grit; 3 microns (green): Intermediate to reset the razor after grinding and Yellow 6 micron paste.
Fine Grit; 1 micron (red): For razors used regularly.
Extra Fine Grit; 0:25 microns (silver): For frequent use and super nice finish of the razor.
Use: Shake the bottle gently to mix the contents, remove the lid and press the membrane in the bottom of the bottle to shake out drops. 10-12 drops suffice for the first application. These drops should be placed at regular intervals throughout strigeln and should be carefully worked in with either fingertips or side of the hand. (The more accurate you are at this stage, the better the result).
With gradual use there will be built abrasives, which will improve the efficiency of striglingen. You must not remove abrasive or clean strigeln after use. (Therefore, you should use different strops for different grit).
Restoration of an old / damaged razor: Proper grinding-> Bio-Diam 6 microns -> Bio-Diam 3 microns -> Bio-Diam 1 micron -> Bio-Diam 0:25 micron -> strop paste without abrasives -> only strop.
New knife, factory grinded but not shaveready: Bio-Diam 6 microns -> Bio-Diam 3 microns -> Bio-Diam 1 micron -> Bio-Diam 0:25 micron -> strop paste without abrasives -> only strop.
Regular use razor: every 2-3 weeks: Bio-Diam 1 micron -> Bio-Diam 0:25 micron -> strop paste without abrasives -> only strop.
